Milo S. Larson has retired from Boise Cascade Corporation after 39 years’ service. Larson was a boiler field operator in the Power and Recovery area when he retired.
After nearly 50 years’ service, Marian A. Bush has retired from Boise Cascade Corporation. She was an executive assistant in the engineering department when she retired.

Lyle Vigoren, 62, has retired from the Boise Cascade Paper Division’s kraft mill.
Janis Gust has been accepted for admission to Golden Valley Lutheran College this fall.

Kami Cayou graduated from Bemidji State University at conclusion of spring quarter with an associate of science degree, accounting technology.

Jeremy Faith has been accepted for enrollment into the meat merchandising major at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, Pipestone Campus.

Former Rainy River Community College Nursing Director Linda Nordlund has accepted a one-year instructional position in the college’s nursing program, Provost Ray Berg has announced. She replaces Judy Junker, who has taken a one-year leave of absence.

The country’s oldest rental houseboat resort is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new name and owners. Northernaire Houseboats of Rainy Lake, formerly known as Northernaire Floating Lodges, is now owned by Dick and Robin Garbe.
Astronaut Alan Shepard, the first American to fly in space and the fifth human to walk on the moon, has died at age 74.

Tim Gable, with Advantage Development Inc., is asking the city of Ranier to vacate a portion of Pine Street to allow for a proposed hotel-restaurant project.
By his own admission, Greg Ross scratched and scraped through this weekend’s Smokey Bear Golf Tournament, the last ever played on just a nine-hole course. But after Ross, a Fort Frances resident, canned a tough, 4-foot down-hill putt for a par 3 on the last hole of the tournament, he was the winner.

The third annual Boelk family reunion was held recently at McKinley Park on Lake Vermilion.

Sheila Perkins has been hired for women’s athletics at Rainy River Community College. She will teach physical education and coach women’s sports at Rainy River Community College this fall.
