The country’s oldest rental houseboat resort is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a new name and owners. Northernaire Houseboats of Rainy Lake, formerly known as Northernaire Floating Lodges, is now owned by Dick and Robin Garbe.

Cadet Thomas W. Rivers of the Falls is attending a six-week summer camp at Fort Eustis, Va., under the Reserve Officer Training corps program of the University of Wisconsin.
Lorraine Alexander, R.N., daughter of Frank Alexander, 901 Riverside Drive, is currently appearing Tuesday and Thursdays on the “Queen for a Day” television show which originates in Hollywood, Calif. Last spring she was seen regularly in another TV advertisement, her first work in TV.
Leslie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lovejoy, 419 Seventh St., celebrated her 7th birthday Saturday. She entertained seven friends by taking them to the fourth annual horse show at Riverview Speedways.

A daughter was born July 19 to Mr. and Mrs. Verne Larsen, Ranier, at Falls Memorial Hospital. The baby’s weight was 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
Dr. and Mrs. Harry Cumming and family of St. Paul are occupying their summer home on Backus Island in Rainy Lake for a few weeks. Mrs. Cumming is the former Betty Backus, granddaughter of E.W. Backus, who founded the Mando industries. She is the daughter of the late Seymour W. Backus.
Diane Lynn is the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Carmody, 1110 11th St., for their daughter born July 19 at Falls Memorial Hospital.
Wayne Richard is the name chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Edward Etienne, 616 Ninth St., for their son born today at Falls Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.
