Three candidates to be interviewed by the Falls School Board beginning at 4 p.m. today
Three candidates for the position of the Falls School District superintendent are scheduled to be interviewed today beginning at 4 p.m. in the Falls High School library.
Thomas Doig is scheduled for 4-5 p.m.; Mark Roubinek is scheduled to be interviewed 5-6 p.m.; Kevin Abrahamson is scheduled to be interviewed 6-7 p.m.
Following the interviews, the public will have the opportunity to talk informally with the candidates in room 130 at FHS.
Thomas Doig
Doig is the New Prague High School principal, a position he has held since 2003. His other experience includes: Mora High School principal; assistant high school principal and community education director in Roseau Community Schools; teacher on special assignment and physical education teacher in Pinewood Elementary School in Eagan; student conduct specialist in Eagan; head high school hockey coach, Burnsville, Rosemount and Mounds View High Schools; dean of students, head hockey coach, assistant football coach in Westwood Middle School and Spring Lake Park High School in St. Louis Park; long-term substitute, head hockey coach, assistant football coach and assistant girls golf coach at Highland Park High School in St. Paul; assistant hockey coach at University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, Wis.
He graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a master of arts degree in athletic administration and from the University of Wisconsin, Superior, with a bachelor of science degree in physical education and coaching with a minor in health.
Mark Roubinek
Roubinek was a superintendent intern in the Pine City Public Schools from Sept. 21, 2007-Jan. 7, 2008. His other experience includes: high school principal of Windom, Hinckey-Finlayson and Goodhue; junior high and high school social studies teacher in Virginia, Lac qui Parle Valley and Appleton.
He earned a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction from the College of St. Scholastica, a bachelor of applied arts degree in grade seven through 12 social studies education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and a bachelor of arts degree in history and political science from St. Olaf College.
Kevin Abrahamson
Abrahamson is the principal and district technology coordinator in Cook. His other experience includes: principal of Tower-Soudan; site administrator in Cook; high school English/language arts and speech teacher in McIntosh, Minn.; and adjunct instructor of English, speech and psychology courses at Northland Community College in Thief River Falls.
His education includes an education specialist degree from the University of Wisconsin, Superior; a master of science degree in education with a major in English from Bemidji State University; a bachelor of applied arts degree in teaching communication and a minor in psychology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth; an associate of arts degree from Rainy River Community College.
