Debra F. Olson, daughter of Leonard and Judy Olson of 1300 11th St., has completed training in fundamental military skills at the Army ROTC basic camp at Fort Knox, Kent.

Miss Marie Millard, a junior at Clarke College, Dubuque, Iowa, cooperated with drama major Diane Ullius in presenting her senior project on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Union.
Playing major roles in a staunch Bronco defense that has yielded only seven touchdowns in six games are Rick LaVigne, Monroe Brenhaug, Tim Blais and John Sirotiak.
Recruits Bernard Lessard, Charles Mark, Clinton Bloom, Richard McMahon, Gary Loff, Allen Bauman and Vincent Furst were sworn into the Army during a brief ceremony at the Army Reserve Training Center.
In observance of National 4-H Club Week, Kathy Kennedy and Judy Urban raised a 4-H flag at the Koochiching County Courthouse.

A son was born today at Falls Memorial Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Taylor, Rogers Route, 7 pounds, 6 1/4 ounces.
John Pariseau Jr., 308 Fifth St., was mighty happy about getting his tricycle back. Someone took it while John was eating supper and hid it in a trash box back of Sy Wolk’s radio shop. A Journal story resulted in finding the owner of the trike.
Miss Polly Straume, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Straume, 600 Sixth St., returned home from Arlington, Va., where she has been employed by the Navy Annex for the past year and a half.
Irvin N. Anderson was named president of the Local 33, International Woodworkers of America, in a special runoff election. He defeated Joe McGregor 318 to 265.

Dave Servis has resigned as chief of the South International Falls Fire Department, Mayor (Chink) Olson announced today. Mayor Olson appointed Cleve Costley to fill the vacancy.
Miss Lorraine Rolfe was honored at a prenuptial party at the Falls Memorial Hospital recreation room. Hostesses were Miss Mary Cousineau, Mrs. Roberta Johnson and Mrs. Esther Grotte.
Mrs. Gerald Grimoldby has been named new deputy-commissioner of the Falls Girl Scout Council.
The public is cordially invited to attend a banquet in honor of Hubert Humphrey, DFL, Candidate for U.S. Senate. Food will be served smorgasbord style, $1.50 per plate. Sunday, 6 p.m., Community Building.
