Falls native Susan Alstrom was inducted into the Bemidji State University Athletic Hall of Fame recently.
Saint John’s University freshman Leif Johnson, son of Doug and Ellen Johnson, is a member of the 1998 football team at the university.

25 YEARS AGO
A bridal shower honoring Terri Clarity, 1832 First Ave. W., was staged recently at the Evangelical Covenant Church.
Jeannie Tveit, Ranier, is among the 69 Bemidji State University students selected to perform in the Bemidji State University Marching Band for the 1983-84 school year. Tveit is a senior majoring in instrumental music.

40 YEARS AGO
The International Falls School Board recently accepted the resignation of Mrs. Lois Jung as bookkeeper in the superintendent’s office, effective Dec. 1, and employed Mrs. Florence Veranth of the Falls as her successor.
Miss Patricia Lynch, 73, the Border City’s dean of music teachers, died today at Falls Memorial Hospital after having been ill for several months.
Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower turned 78 today.
Richard E. (Dick) Alexander, retired accountant, is leaving today for California to spend the winter with a daughter. Formerly of 808 Sixth St., he retired June 1 with 18 years of Mando and Boise Cascade service.

50 YEARS AGO
Steven Usiak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Usiak, Frederic Hotel, celebrated his fifth birthday Friday. Ten guests were present.
Mrs. Pearl Maruk, 503 Eighth St., was honored at two birthday parties. Mrs. Alvin Glennie, a daughter, presented her with a decorated birthday cake at a family gathering in the afternoon. In the evening she was honored at another family gathering. Mrs. Walter Kent, daughter, made the cake and decorated it.
The International Falls Bronco football team received a “shot in the arm” this week in the preparation for the championship battle with Ely at Sports Stadium tomorrow night. The return to full-time action of halfback Tom Morse and tackle Pete McBride, is expected to greatly enhance the Broncos’ chances of adding another Iron Range Conference championship trophy to their previous collection.
A 1 o’clock bridge luncheon was given at the Rainy Lake home of Mrs. R.T. McMurray as a farewell party honoring Miss Kathleen Walker, 429 1/2 Fourth St. Miss Walker will leave later this month for Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. Frank Larson was assisting hostess.

60 YEARS AGO
A girl weighing 7 pounds, 3 ounces, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pleimling, Keyes Arcade, at Littlefork Hospital this morning. The infant was named Paula Marie.
Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Klein, 1419 First Ave. E., are hosts to Mr. and Mrs. Willard Teske, Correll. Mr. Teske and Mr. Klein, who were childhood friends, have not seen each other for 30 years.
Members of the Methodist Bible class gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Marland Teal for their weekly study session. The social hour that followed was in the nature of a farewell for one of the members, Mrs. Melvin Henry. The Henrys will leave soon to make their home in Grand Rapids.
Mrs. Geno Lucca was the guest of honor at a stork party in the home of Mrs. William Maruk, 1125 Seventh Ave.
