Valeria (Larry) Engelking, 88

Valeria (Larry) Engelking, 88, of the Littlefork Care Center, passed away July 19, 2008 at Falls Memorial Hospital. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born to Ernest and Lillian Hodel on July 9, 1920 in Wahpeton, N.D She moved to International Falls in 1940 and was married to John Engelking in June 1941.
Valeria’s passion was her love for her family. She was always extremely proud of her daughter and all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. he enjoyed hearing about and keeping up with all their accomplishments and where they resided around the country. Her family and her friends were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Hodel and sisters, Gloria (Boots) Usiak and Betty Jameson.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Bob) Anderson; grandchildren, Robin (DeAnne) Anderson of Chanhassen, Cheryl Anderson of Anoka and Rick (Tanya) Anderson of International Falls; and her five great-grandchildren, Nick, Erik, Jenna, Sydney and Emilee.
Other survivors include her sisters-in-law, Donna Hodel and Cathy Engelking; brothers-in-law, Ray Usiak and Ed Jameson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Zion Lutheran Church, International Falls, with Pastor Stephen Olson officiating.
Interment will be in the Veterans of Foreign Wars section of Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Littlefork Medical Center or Falls Memorial Hospital Foundation in memory of Valeria.
