Leon Carl Kielczewski, 57

After a lengthy illness, Leon Carl Kielczewski, age 57, passed away at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay, Ontario, on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, with family by his side.
Leon was born to Paul and Margaret on May 16, 1951, in Fort Frances, Ontario. He lived most of his life there and traveled often to Edmonton, Alberta, to visit with family and friends.
Leon was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the time he spent with family, friends and by himself at Kettle Falls and on Rainy Lake.
At the age of 18, Leon enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served on the USS Okinawa.
Leon is survived by his two children, Brandi and David, and grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Harvey (Barb), Pat (Vera), Keith (Betty), Gail (Bill Shields), Ray (Dee), Laurie (Rick Sutherland), Bonnie (Bernie Limoges), Deder, Shawn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leon was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Margaret; brother, Kevin; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Terry Johnston; aunt, Rita; and uncles, Allan and Alton.
Cremation has taken place.
A tea will be staged in his honor at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Frances.
