Gerald Erickson, 91

Gerald C. Erickson, the son of Bertha (Leden) and Carl Erickson, was born July 26, 1916, in Birchdale, Minn. He was raised in Birchdale and graduated from Indus High School in 1933.
On Aug. 22, 1942, he and Isabel Robertson were united in marriage in International Falls. They lived in Birchdale until 1980 when they moved into Baudette.
Gerald farmed for many years and worked in the woods logging. He started his own sawmill in 1975. It is called “Erickson Timber Products” and is still in operation today by his sons, Dale and Gib.
Gerald enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family, his work and commitment to Birchdale.
Gerald passed away July 16, 2008, at the Lakewood Care Center in Baudette. He was 91 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Isabel; children, Clarice Erickson of Duluth, Larry Erickson (Virginia) of Seattle, Wash., Marilyn Bergstrom (Rod) of Littlefork, Minn., Gib Erickson (M’Liss) of Baudette, Dale Erickson (Deedra) of Birchdale, and Lori Nassif (Sam) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Mike, Dean, Kirsten, Kristi, Darren, JoHannah, Cameron, Karla, Calli, Grant, Eric and James; and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Ashley and Braydon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bertha.
Funeral services for Gerald Erickson of Baudette, formerly of Birchdale, were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, at the Birchdale Congregational Church.
Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church.
Helgeson Funeral Chapel of Baudette handled the arrangements.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Birchdale Congregational Church.
