Falls School Board
The Falls School Board is scheduled to hear reports on the results of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment II tests during its meeting at 5 p.m. Monday in the Falls High School cafeteria.
The Falls school district met student performance goals dictated by the federal No Child Left Behind law. FHS Principal Tim Everson and Falls Elementary Principal Jerry Hilfer are expected to discuss the results during the administrative reports.
The board is also expected to set a graduation date. The board considered changing the date as a result of several students missing commencement exercises in May. The students had sports scheduling conflicts.
The school board is expected to approve hirings for several different positions. Among them is Tom Vollum as the Indian Education coordinator and Chris Hemstad as a science teacher.
An open forum is also scheduled for the beginning of the meeting.

Ranier City Council
The Ranier City Council is scheduled to consider a preliminary engineering report regarding the city’s water system when it meets Monday.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Ranier Community Building.
Expected to be presented by the Water Committee, the report was completed by the S.E.H. engineering firm. The firm was hired last March to assess the Ranier waterlines.
Also on Monday’s agenda is a Budget Committee request to approve the 2009 city budget and proposed tax levy.
The committee is also requesting to place an advertisement in the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Planner’s Guide.
The Buildings, Streets and Grounds Committee will request approval of city dock repair work by John Arnold, and for Sjoblom’s Landscaping to mow the triangle area between the entrance and exit lanes entering the city. The committee is also requesting approval of the CVB appointment of Steve Lindberg.
The council is expected to approve the Ranier Municipal Liquor Store operating statement for July and handle Budget Committee business regarding the 2008 rural fire dues. It will also consider the payment of $47,335 in monthly city bills.
