KEDA to discuss FTZ site Wednesday

The Koochiching Economic Development Authority Board is scheduled to hear an update on its foreign trade zone site at its meeting Wednesday.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the KEDA office, 305 Third St.
Dave Serrano, of Arro of the North, is developing a conceptual plan for the FTZ, located east of International Falls. Serrano told the board in June that he has completed a wetland delineation and topographical survey of the FTZ.
The KEDA Board is also expected to seek proposals for legal representation. The board is now represented by attorney Joe Boyle, however the Koochiching County Board has requested that Boyle withdraw his representation from joint powers agencies that include both International Falls and Koochiching County officials. County officials have stated they believe Boyle has a conflict of interest representing those agencies and International Falls. The action follows an objection by city officials about an attorney that would represent county officials in a dispute involving the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The KEDA Board is also scheduled to replace board member Rob Boyd, who has resigned from his position on the board.
The board is also scheduled to hear a report from the treasurer and director and a marketing update.
