Rural addressing signs
The contractor began placing new rural addressing signs for all residents in the rural areas and some cities last week. He is placing small flags so the utility companies can determine if their lines will be impacted. The Koochiching County Sheriff’s Office requests cooperation from the public in not removing these signs.
Women of the Moose
The Women of the Moose will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the downstairs clubrooms.
Concert in the Park
The final Concert in the Park will feature Pat Porter beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Smokey Bear Park. His newest CD, “Love Songs,” will be available.
Book club

Meet the Teachers
Falls High School will conduct 7th grade orientation and Meet and Teachers from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the school.
Airport commission
The International Falls-Koochiching County Airport Commission will meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the conference room at the offices of Einarson Flying Service Inc., located at Falls International Airport.
Back-to-School bash
Independent School District 361 Community Education will sponsor a Back-to-School High School Splash Bash from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Falls High School Pool. Grades 7 through 12 are welcome. The $3 fee will be collected at the door. No pre-registration is required.
Pain management
The Chronic Pain Management Support Group will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Duluth Clinic, International Falls, Community Room. Topic will be an open discussion — talk and share with others about living with chronic pain — whether it’s yourself or a loved one. Meetings are free and for anyone dealing with chronic pain issues.
Clothes Closet
Drop offs at the Community Clothes Closet will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aquinas Hall, 810 Fifth St. The Closet will be open from 10 to 4 Thursday.
Moose supper
A pulled pork sandwiches will be served at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Moose Lodge.
Open swimming
Open swimming will be from 6:30 to 8 a.m. for adults Monday through Friday at the Falls High School Pool through August. There will also be open swimming for children and families Monday through Friday each day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the pool through the month of August. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Swim tickets (10 punches/$10 or 20 punches/$20) may be purchased in the Community Education Office.
‘Celebrate Recovery’
We’ve all been hurt by other people, we’ve hurt ourselves, and we’ve hurt others. As a result, every single one of us ends up with some sort of hurt, hang-up or habit. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based, 12-step program and the group meets every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church. Everyone is welcome.
The Lamplighters
The Lamplighters, an on-going women’s support group for survivors of incest and/or childhood sexual abuse, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the Sunrise Center Against Sexual Abuse, 203 Third St. Facilitator is Pam Bechik, MA in Psychology. A light meal will be provided by Domino’s Pizza prior to each group meeting. Pre-register by calling 283-9334.
Open horseshoes
Men, women and teenagers are welcome to play open horseshoes from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Kerry Park. No experience is necessary.

‘Mad Science’
Community Education will offer “Mad Science,” an after-school enrichment program for students in grades 1 through 6, Sept. 9 through Oct. 28. Instructor is Deana Lorenson. Radio City event
A trip to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, starring the Rockettes, is set for 3:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Minneapolis Target Center. Cost is $105 per person. Adult CPR
Red Cross adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is planned for 6 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 3 or Oct. 1 at Falls Elementary School Library. Cost is $30.
