Former Bemidji State University hockey star and former Falls Recreation Commission Director Jim Thompson was inducted recently into Bemidji State University’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Thompson died in 1996 of cancer and was inducted posthumously.
Marine Pfc. Jason A. Heinlen, son of Victor P. and Pamela G. Heinlen, is currently halfway through a six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and Arabian Gulf with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit embarked aboard the ships of the USS Essex Amphibious Group.

There will be an open house in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Edward and Marjorie Kalar, Saturday, Oct. 17, 2 to 4 p.m., at Faith United Church.
If you build a better hammer, people will pound a path to your door. That’s what local inventor Jack Karsnia discovered. Karsnia recently reached an exclusive patent-license agreement with a major manufacturer for a hammer he designed.

A record six holes-in-one were recorded this year at the Falls Country Club. They were by Jim Davidson, Gene Juelich, Tim Anderson, Dick Hanks, Gary Lepper and Bill Blais.

Pvt. Clinton T. Gooselin, a 1982 graduate of Falls High School, has completed one station unit training at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga.
