Just wondering if anyone else has noticed the lack of bathrooms at the town playgrounds. Does anyone know why there is none? As a mother of two potty-training children, it can be a real inconvenience.
When I was a kid they actually did have bathrooms and playground supervisors. The reason they are most likely locked up is because of so many vandalisms. Kids go to the park and are not supervised and they vandalize the property. Too bad.
Just another proof of the endless decline of this little town at the end of the road to nowhere.
Before you know it, a bunch of oldtimers will start to talk about how the beach bus came several times a day to places like the 8th Street playground and how the playground had a supervisor, often a Bilben, who did lesson plans and was especially helpful on rainy days. And how there was real metal playground equipment including slides, chain swings, and a vomit-inducing merry-go-round. Mark my words, we will see oldtimers.
And then sectorusa will come back with the exact names of each attendant by year and playground and we will begin to remember what we have so easily forgotten.
And someone will remind us that you didn't need bathrooms when there was a real woods next to every playground except the bandshell which was for the cakeeaters anyway.
Not only are there no bathrooms. They playgroud equipment....besides Carson Loopi Park is awful. Paint is chipping, mold, gross. Isn't there some money out there that can be used towards getting new equipment??? My child goes to daycare by a park and because of the shape that park is in and the issue of no bathrooms our daycare provider will not bring the kids to that park so the kids walk the extra 5 blocks to go to CL Park.
Have you ever gone to Falls Elementary playground? The equipment is newer and very nice. As far as bathrooms go...I was visiting the metro area and noted that very few bathrooms exist at their playgrounds as well. Maybe we, as parents could all chip in and rent portable toilets from a vendor; in the metro area the restrooms that do exist are portable ones. I remember the days when Kerry Park had bathrooms as well; however they DID become vandalized. It is difficult to maintain equipment without the proper volunteers. We should all chip in and volunteer to make our playgrounds a better place instead of complaining about it! I am willing to pitch in :)
