Capitalism Pits Human vs Machine over Corn for Fuel

» Read similar stories filed under:

World grain prices have doubled since US business interests invested in converting corn into ethanol. This has spilled over into the doubling of world grain prices of ALL grains as humans move up to substitute cereals.

The war between humans and machines for survival is in it’s beginning stages. Corporations/capitalism is a mental concept rather than a living organism. Yet human greed created this increasingly evil conceptual system. The enemy in futuristic films is an army of robotic human killers. (but) Right here, right now, the enemy is as soul-less as any cyborg and it’s already killing Third World peasants.

Starvation will move up the ladder as the need for vehicle fuels increase. The question of feeding a gas tank instead of a stomach is a moral no brainer for a person in possession of a soul. For a faceless conceptual entity (name any corporation) the question doesn’t even come up.

NEWS FLASH: There are many weeds in the world that pests do not bother and grow in poor soils. These plants have no food value, grow where food crops can not grow and yet these weed species produce copious amounts of ethanol when fermented.

QUESTION: Given the above, why does Big Business choose corn over plants that would not effect human starvation rates?

In America there’s about 30 cents worth of grain in a one pound loaf of bread. Doubling the price of grain in the United States means bread goes from $3.30 a loaf to $3.60 a loaf. However! In Africa, India, rural China, southeast Asia and Indonesia humans buy raw grain directly from a burlap bag. When the price of grain doubles over there . . . it literally doubles.

A couple of years ago, millions of peasants were spending 75% of their money on grain. These millions are now (straight up) dying, because the bread basket of the world, is pumping food into the internal combustion engine of your car.

The next time you have a choice of pumping ethanol into your car, I want you to envision the decomposing remains of humans coming out of the gas nozzle, rather than dinosaur offal.

WOW! This is HEAVY! Yes, I can see what you're saying. The Book of Revelations speaks of the Four Horsemen. The Black one is carrying a weight balance: Meaning, "A measure of wheat for a penny and three measures of barley for a penny and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine." Revelation 6:5-6 (KJV)

Folks, this means famine! I can see it coming. We need to be in prayer about our future, especially the little ones coming up into this world.

Ugh! I hate to see them struggling to grow up in this, The Last Days.
Jesus is LORD!

Who are you and why would we care? Response to what? Have you watched "The World According to Monsanto" on google video? How about "Zeitgeist"? You can't just come in here and say something about god being a rock and expect these people to bite.

I agree with you, though, and I found GrizzlyJan's response hilarious. "Oh, no, the end times are coming, just like they've come in every century and at least twice a year since the beginning of the National Enquirer! The poor babies! We must pray! Geezus, pleez saves ours soles!!"

I'll bet jesus makes this comment miraculously disappear.

Of course when Obama looks in the mirror, he see's nothing, because there's nothing to see. Maybe, he see's chaaaaaange!! Sorry for the digression, [don't want this to get pulled]. Oh, well, I'd rather be compared to you, Schmitty, than be compared to those rascals [one in the same]. Keep up the good work, and don't let up on them, cuz they're crazy like a fox.

Back to page top

Craig Venter, the father of synthetic biology, has argued that micro-organisms can be developed that eat CO2 and industrial waste and expel octane. He said his company could do it in eighteen months. I say that anyone with a soul can recognize the benefits of creating organisms like that one, with the farthest imagined reaches of the field envisioning engineered seeds that can grow into houses.

But the easiest way to prevent overpopulation and natural resource limitation is to tell people to stop making babies.

But then, of course, what kind of abomination would follow non-religious advice?

Back to page top

Ethanol is fuel for morons. Even if we converted all of our domestically grown grain into ethanol is would only meet 2% of US fuel demand (a study was conducted at either the U of M or U of Oregon...I do not remember).

Its our politicians and the farm industry that is pushing this garbage down our throats. The auto industry (specifically the US auto makers) jumped on board because they are trying to make people believe they are 'green' and care about our environment. Meanwhile, ethanol engines get less fuel economy by about 15% - 20%.

If you have some farm land...hang on to it. Its a gold mine.

Back to page top

You made an interesting point. I know you’re talking ethanol, but two years ago, I did a research paper on biodiesel and found this interesting fact from the National Biodiesel Board (NBB)--“In the near future, NBB believes (based on Department of Energy estimates) that biodiesel could at best supply 10 % of America’s fuel needs. It will complement, not replace, fossil fuel. The problem is that devoting huge tracts of farmland to soy or canola crops for biodiesel production is neither economically feasible nor physically possible, given their low per-acre yields. (Motavalli, J., 2006).” To summarize the point, if every piece of the farmland in the America grew crops for producing bio-diesel, there would only be enough to supply 10% of America’s fuel needs at best. And if the farmland is all going to fuel needs, what will America’s eat?

I my opinion, Biodiesel and ethanol can only aid the fuel crisis by a small percent, not solve it.

Maybe congress should have let Bush put in the oil refinery in Alaska six years ago, when he asked to? Who knew that the man might actually be right about something?

BBC World News:
Rice prices hit new records Thursday as India, Egypt and Vietnam outlawed rice exports.

Yesterday, Thailand, the biggest rice exporter, could fulfill only 2,000 tonnes of the staple, out of 10,000 tonnes ordered. The price of soybeans, corn and wheat are also near historic highs.

The World Bank estimates 33 countries face social unrest because of rising food prices.

Mongo. Congratulations for starting this interesting and important clearing house. What seems to be happening is really quite insidious, isn't it? Because Tom Friedman told us that the world is flat and that the free market is the only form of regulation we need, unregulated speculation is starting to kill people. It is always the have nots who die first. Keep up the good work.

Back to page top

All of this starvation, due to lack of corn kernals, is a big bunch of b**l S**t!!!! The last time I checked, we were paying farmers to NOT raise crops, such as corn. All of this land in this country, and we cannot provide corn to feed the world?? Farmers going bankrupt, etc., and people without jobs, and we can't grow corn. And what about these third world countries learning how to grow their own food. Are you telling me nothing will grow over there? If that is true, then the then land was not meant to sustain human life!! If you can't grow food where you live, then move. Simple as that. Bring them some dirt and corn seeds, and make them grow their own food. I could do the same on an island on Rainy Lake. Give us a break, ASAP!!!! By the way, there is no gas shortage. Just greedy A-holes. Come on dogs, we're going to Starbucks. I can't handle these Guvment handouts, and bleeding hearts.

roj, watch "The World According to Monsanto" on google video. Then reevaluate your stances on charity, poverty and laziness. If an Indian is forced, by law, to purchase Monsanto's GM seeds even though they cost four times as much, you're gonna get a lot of dead, starving Indians.

Back to page top

Jackpine04,

Thanks for the link, and I also did a little research on the subject on the Net last night. I am surprised that they have not pinned this problem/situation on Bush!! Everything is his fault. I put Monsanto in the same league as Microsoft, Inc.... But, is Monsanto's reach so big, that someone can't give a bunch of non-GM seeds to these third world countries, and let them grow crops and have the abiltiy to sustain themselves? And who is behind Monsanto, that is so powerful, that we can't bring them down? This is very interesting, and troubling at the same time. Thanks again for the info. By the way, I have no problems with charity [I send out checks at least once a week], but there comes a time when people need to stand on their own two feet and do some work themselves. The world is going down the drain, with all of these "handouts". I say help anyone who is down and out, but when they are back on their feet, then join in with the rest of us, "working fools"!!
